All you need to know about Ferro phosphorus

Image
You might have heard about the term ferrophosphorus, right? Well, let me tell you, it’s a ferroalloy made of iron and phosphorus. It’s obtained as a by-product of thermal processes for the production of elemental phosphorus. The byproduct contains only twenty to thirty percent of phosphorus and seventy-five percent iron. However, it might contain small amounts of chromium, vanadium, titanium, manganese, and nickel according to the composition of the phosphate rock used throughout the process. Since ferrophosphorus is used in iron and steel making processes, desirable amounts of phosphorus can be incorporated in the resulting alloys. Reactivity profile of ferrophosphorus This is an extremely less reactive metal alloy that works as a reducing agent.  - It reacts exothermically with oxidizing acids for the formation of noxious gases.   It might catalyze the polymerization and other reactions especially when divided finely.  Might react with halogenated hydrocarbons for ...
